The summer school Go East-Sommerschule 2016, organized on the base of MIIT, ended on August 22. Generally, twelve students took part in it. Ten of them came to Russia under the grant DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and two other students arrived from Hochschule Mittweida. Summer School 2016, which took place from 8 to 22 August, was the first school including German students.
The main purpose was not only to introduce foreign students to the Russian culture and language, but also to improve their knowledge in the transport and logistics. The combination of systematic intensive training and cultural programs has allowed guests to feel themselves not only as Russian students, but also as tourists exploring a new country. Easy communication during lessons and friendly atmosphere after school helped the students to become a team and increase productivity on lectures and practical classes.
Students were engaged in the Russian language and listened to lectures on transport and logistics in the morning and then went on various tours and activities. The cultural program included visiting the best cultural sites in Moscow. Students have visited such places as the Kremlin, Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno, Museum of Cosmonautics, VDNH. At the weekend the group went to Kazan. Twelve hours in a double-decker train have become a new experience (long trips are not typical practice), an interesting subject to study from a professional point of view. In Kazan the participants visited the Kazan Kremlin and Kazan Arena.
By the end of the summer school foreign students have acquired experience of living in Russia, learned many new things about the transport potential of the country, understood the current condition of logistics companies and updated their technical knowledge as well as Russian language.
At the end of the course, each student received a certificate and three academic credits.
The tradition to open a Summer School in MIIT will be followed each year.
